Group Information and Activities

  • Guest Speakers are invited to our meetings to present information on a wide variety of topics on the first three Wednesdays of each month.

  • Morning Tea is included for meetings at the Bowls Club.

  • Informal meeting agenda

  • A social outing  is planned for the 4th Wednesday of each month.

  • After our meeting some members may go on to have lunch together. This is spontaneous and  if you wish to come it is at your own expense.

  • A raffle or tombola (cent sale) is held when we are at our usual venue. Members bring suitable prizes for the tombola (keeping the value around $5) and most of the larger raffle prizes are also donated. All money raised through these raffles is used to subsidize our more formal luncheons and functions, with the leftover funds donated to Charity at the end of the year.

  • Birthday girls are acknowledged and given 2 free raffle tickets in the week of their birthday.

  • Each member is given a list of names, phone numbers, addresses and birthdays of all members of BMW.

  • A 'My Bright Ideas' box is always on hand. Please take ownership of your ideas by signing your name.

  • Members are encouraged and welcomed to contribute any ideas and serve on the committee and make suggestions to enhance our program.

  • Our Birthday Luncheon is held in April and a Christmas Luncheon in July and December.

  • The Annual General Meeting is held in February.

  • We have a Facebook page to assist with our communication as well as a monthly newsletter the BMW'Banter' which is available in hard copy at our meetings or emailed to members.

Women's Colours

We have adopted these colours which originated in the English Suffragette Movement and were chosen for their symbolism:

Purple - Justice and dignity

Green - Hope

White - Purity

We like to wear a mauve shirt whenever we have an outing or attend a function. Sometimes there are large numbers on these occasions and this assists us in identifying each other. This is not compulsory or expected of members and is purely voluntary. Any shade of mauve (or even purple) in any style of shirt you may already have in your wardrobe would be perfectly acceptable.

BMW does not fundraise in public

Most funds raised through our internal raffles and tombolas go back to the members through subsidizing functions and major events.

We also contribute to and support a number of Bundaberg charity organisations throughout the year, as well as the Qld Cancer Council/ McGrath Foundation - by holding a Biggest Morning Tea and later in the year by the sale of Daffodils at Stockland's shopping Centre. We have also been supportive by our attendance at  the Make A Wish Foundation's Cent Sale.
